This product is a rare mahogany sewing box from the Italian Empire. It dates back to 1840. The top parquetry of this box is of satinwood and ebony. It is in the form of a clamshell that has a compartment below an original mirror when opened. The ormolu accented bone corinthian column below a delicately carved bone gallery supports the mirror. This sewing box has a rectangular base resting on two lyres. In the base, the box has a secret drawer with its original lock key.?
